🐸 Print Frog® Glass Baren — Studio Model
The Original Glass Baren for Relief Printmaking
First designed by master printmaker Matt Bagley in 2013, the Studio Print Frog® Glass Baren is the original Print Frog® model. Created to make hand printing easier and more accessible, it offers the weight, balance, and control artists need for consistent results without a printing press.
Made from recycled glass and hand-blown by skilled glass artists to Iron Frog Press specifications, each Studio model is individually inspected and tested by Matt Bagley before shipping.
Whether you're working in a professional print studio, teaching a class, or introducing children to the art of printmaking, the Studio Model provides the weight, balance, and smooth movement needed for enjoyable, controlled hand printing—without a printing press.
Why Choose the Studio Model?
Designed for Everyday Printing
The Studio Model combines balanced weight, a smooth-gliding surface, and a rounded ergonomic handle for comfortable, controlled printing. Its substantial glass construction helps distribute pressure across the printing block, making it a dependable tool for regular relief printing.
Comfort Meets Control
The handle supports a natural hand position, allowing artists to maintain control and sensitivity during longer printing sessions.
Please Note About This Individual Baren
This Studio Print Frog® Glass Baren features a soft raised ridge along the lip of the handle, a natural characteristic of the hand-blown glassmaking process.
Because each Print Frog® is made by hand, slight variations in shape, size, and color are to be expected. Subtle contours on the base and small air bubbles are also natural characteristics of the glassmaking process, giving each baren its own individual character.
Versatile Relief Printing Tool
The Studio Print Frog® Glass Baren is suitable for a variety of printing techniques, including:
Linocut
Woodcut
MDF printing blocks
Collagraph
Chine-collé
Fabric printing
It also works with a variety of papers and materials, including kozo, mulberry, vellum, and heavier printmaking papers.
Not recommended for encaustic monoprinting or pigment grinding.
Quality Checked by Iron Frog Press
